Owner & Veterinarian

Dr. Rebecca Korven DVM

Dr. Rebecca Korven is originally from Duncan, British Columbia. Her life-long love of science and nature led her to study Biology and Environmental Studies at the University of Victoria and go on to study Veterinary Medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Dr. Rebecca Korven is originally from Duncan, British Columbia. Her life-long love of science and nature led her to study Biology and Environmental Studies at the University of Victoria and go on to study Veterinary Medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Upon graduating from vet school, she took her first job in Sydney, Nova Scotia, working for two years at Cape Breton Veterinary Service. She and her husband, Aaron Andrews, decided to develop their own business, a clinic dedicated to providing high standards of care, quality service and a rewarding work environment for their staff. In May 2008, they opened Celtic Creatures Veterinary Clinic. The dedicated, caring and highly skilled staff have made Celtic Creatures a growing success.

In 2009, the Cape Breton Partenership Women in Business Awards awarded Dr. Korven and Celtic Creatures Vet Clinic the “Business Start-Up of the Year” award. Dr. Korven enjoys the challenges of running her own business. Her favorite thing about her job is being a medical detective, piecing together symptoms, diagnostic findings and figuring out a diagnosis and treatment plan. She enjoys the rewards of seeing patients improve and getting to know her clients. She is also interested in soft tissue surgery and dentistry.

In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her pets: two cats Quasi and Nazca, and two dogs Torridon and Orca.

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Stephanie MacIsaac DVM, B.Sc.

Dr. Stephanie MacIsaac is originally from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She completed her Bachelor’ of Science degree at Saint Francis Xavier University and went on to attend veterinary school at the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island.

Upon graduation in 2012, Dr. MacIsaac completed a challenging internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

She started working at Celtic Creatures in 2013. Her work interests include dental surgery, wound management and feline medicine. She loves the day to day challenges of veterinary medicine and the opportunities to learn from each case, and of course kisses and cuddles with new puppy and kitten patients.

During her time off Dr. MacIsaac loves exploring Cape Breton – hiking with her dog Mattie, or spending time at the beach or a new restaurant with friends. She is an avid gardener, loves trying new recipes in the kitchen, and plays trumpet in a local community band. She also enjoys reading and cuddling with her two kitties, Izzy and Poe.

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Paige Hébert DVM

Dr. Paige Hébert is originally from Mundleville, New Brunswick. She started her Bachelor’s of Environmental Biology degree at University of Prince Edward Island, and went on to attend veterinary school at the Atlantic Veterinary College and graduated in 2018.

She started working at Celtic Creatures in 2018. Her work interests include nutrition, behaviour, and internal medicine. She looks forward to finally living out her childhood dream of being a vet, and having a job that allows frequent kitten/puppy cuddle breaks.

During her time off Dr. Hébert loves anything to do with the outdoors, including kayaking and hiking. While getting her degree she worked for ten years at a bakery, so any rainy days are spent in the kitchen trying out cupcake recipes to be judged by her coworkers. She also enjoys horror movie marathons while snuggling her beagle Vera, border collie Baler, and orange tabby Gunther.

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Laura Perry DVM, B.Sc

Dr. Laura Perry grew up in Howie Centre and attended Cape Breton University, where she completed a Bachelor of Science with Honors. Her thesis research was performed in conjunction with Celtic Creatures and focused on otitis externa in dogs.

Her thesis research was performed in conjunction with Celtic Creatures and focused on otitis externa in dogs. Dr. Perry graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island in 2018. She stayed an additional year to complete an Internship in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery. From there, Dr. Perry spent two years working in Edmonton, Alberta, with both horses and small animals. Her professional interests include palliation and pain control for senior pets, preventative care and alternative therapies, such as chiropractic medicine.

Dr. Perry greatly values the human-animal bond, and enjoys working with animals and clients to strengthen that bond through a healthy life well lived.

In her spare time, Laura enjoys riding her horse, Cookie, paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming– any water activity really, and reading. She is an avid writer and a beginner potter/sculptor. Laura has one cat, named Mr. Brown.

Inventory Manager & Registered Veterinary Technician

Terrilee R.V.T

Before ever working in the animal industry, Terrilee graduated from New Waterford School for Nursing Assistants.

Before ever working in the animal industry, Terrilee graduated from New Waterford School for Nursing Assistants. After 7 years in the nursing profession, her path took a turn. She started working at Cape Breton Vet in 1995 and has been working in the veterinary business ever since. She joined Celtic Creatures when they opened their doors in 2008.

On top of being a registered veterinary technician who loves hands-on care and nursing sick animals back to health. Terrilee is also our inventory manager – if we don’t have it, she’ll do her best to get it in! She keeps the staff and clinic in tiptop shape and her experience and wisdom are a great asset to our team.

Terrilee and her husband, Steven, enjoy boating and spending time at their cottage with their two children. She has a cat named Simon.

Rachel R.V.T., M.Sc., B.Sc.

Rachel is originally from Beaver Bank, Nova Scotia. She has a strong science background and completed a Bachelor’s of Science at Dalhousie University and a Master’s of Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland.

She discovered a passion for the veterinary field and enrolled in the Veterinary Technology Program at Dalhousie Faculty of Agriculture in Truro, graduating with honors.

Rachel has been with Celtic Creatures since September 2013. She loves laboratory work, veterinary dentistry and patient care. She brings a fresh and up to date knowledge base to our team and is always keen to learn and teach anything new that the veterinarian field has to offer.

In her spare time she likes to craft, play video games and take trips to Halifax to spend time with her family. Rachel lives with her two dachshunds, Bailey and Rosie.

Monique R.V.T.

Monique was born and raised in Sydney. She did her post secondary education in Ontario where she received her Veterinarian Technician Diploma at Ridgetown College, University of Guelph.

Monique was born and raised in Sydney. She did her post secondary education in Ontario where she received her Veterinarian Technician Diploma at Ridgetown College, University of Guelph. After 10 years in Ontario, she had the opportunity to be able to move back beautiful Cape Breton. She has been working as a technician since 2009 and was able to join our Celtic Creatures team in the spring of 2014.

Monique has a special love for cats, especially white ones, and doesn’t mind having to handle the particularly saucy ones! She loves taking care of her patients, nursing them back to health, and giving them a little extra TLC while they’re here with us.

In her spare time you might find Monique and her husband Adam spending time with their large extended families, or helping out at their local church events. They also love spending time in the summer at the beach and camping around our beautiful Cabot trail.

Jenna R.V.T.

Jenna was born and raised in New Waterford. She attended Dalhousie Faculty of Agriculture where completed a year of Animal Sciences before moving on to complete the Veterinary Technology program in 2017.

Jenna was born and raised in New Waterford. She attended Dalhousie Faculty of Agriculture where completed a year of Animal Sciences before moving on to complete the Veterinary Technology program in 2017. From there Jenna worked as a RVT in Halifax and in December 2020 she had the chance to move back Cape Breton.

Jenna is no stranger to the staff as she had volunteered with us in the spring of 2013, so moving back to Cape Breton was a perfect time for her join our Celtic Creatures team. Jenna has a passion for anesthesia and patient care, and loves working with cats, especially the saucy ones.

In her spare time you may find Jenna with her husband Mason hiking or spending time at the beach. She also enjoys practicing yoga and taking time to de-stress. Mason and Jenna have 2 cats, Toby and Penny, a rabbit named Willow, and a dog named Piper.

Veterinary Assistant

Bonnie B.Sc.

Bonnie has a Bachelor Degree in Animal Science from NSAC (2000). She worked for the Highland Animal Hospital in Port Hawkesbury as a Vet Assistant until joining the Celtic Creatures team in 2008.

Bonnie has a Bachelor Degree in Animal Science from NSAC (2000). She worked for the Highland Animal Hospital in Port Hawkesbury as a Vet Assistant until joining the Celtic Creatures team in 2008. She loves the farmiliarity with her clients and enjoys getting to know the patients and to watch them grow. Bonnie has special powers around the clinic and is known as the dog whisperer and cat wrangler. Bonnie can often be found lending a hand to all staff in the clinic and enjoys working with the public.

Bonnie has a registered quarter horse gelding named Indy, two dogs named Scully and Pualuk and 2 cats named Timmy and Charlotte . She enjoys horseback riding, gardening, playing with her pets, watching tv and taste testing all the food her husband, Andrew, makes!
