Pets Need Dental Care Too!
Did you know that dental disease is the most common, most diagnosed, most often-recognized health problem we see in pets? 85% of all dogs and cats over the age of 3 years have some degree of dental disease that requires treatment. If left untreated, periodontal disease can lead to systemic disease, showering the lungs and internal organs with bacteria. The damage to internal organs can shorten the life of your pet.
How do we perform a dentistry on a dog or cat at Celtic Creatures Vet Clinic?
Here is an example:
Meet Jake, a 6 year old Dachshund, who loves to fetch rocks from the beach. Unfortunately, his rock fetching habit resulted in fractures to all four of his canine teeth! Jake also has mild tartar and gingivitis that needs treatment. To assess the damage to Jake’s canine teeth, we needed to take dental x-rays.
