Vaccinations

We offer both core/required vaccination and optional vaccinations.

The core dog vaccines protect against:

1) Distemper, Parvovirus, Adenovirus, and Parainfluenza (known as Vangard)

2) Rabies

Each patient has a different lifestyle and are at different levels of risk for specific conditions and hence, depending on the Vet’s assessment may require a different protocol.

Our standard protocol for dogs is: 8 weeks – Vanguard,12 weeks – Vanguard, 16 weeks – Vanguard and Rabies, 1 year  – Vanguard and Rabies

Every three years after then both Vanguard and Rabies are required to be boostered to maintain adequate antibody protection against these conditions.

Optional dog vaccines include:

1) Kennel cough (Bordetella): The vaccines for Bordetella needs to be given annually to keep antibody levels up enough to provide protection.

2) Lyme: The vaccine for Lyme needs to be given once, then boostered 2-3 weeks later. After this the Lyme vaccine needs to be given annually to maintain adequate antibody levels.

3) Leprospirosis: The leptospirosis vaccine needs to be given initially and then boostered 3-4 weeks later. After receiving the original 2 doses, this vaccine needs to be given annually to maintain sufficient antibodies to protect against infection with Leptospirosis.
