DVM
Dr. Rebecca Korven is originally from Duncan, British Columbia. Her life-long love of science and nature led her to study Biology and Environmental Studies at the University of Victoria and go on to study Veterinary Medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Upon graduating from vet school, she took her first job in Sydney, Nova Scotia, working for two years at Cape Breton Veterinary Service. She and her husband, Aaron Andrews, decided to develop their own business, a clinic dedicated to providing high standards of care, quality service and a rewarding work environment for their staff. In May 2008, they opened Celtic Creatures Veterinary Clinic. The dedicated, caring and highly skilled staff have made Celtic Creatures a growing success.
In 2009, the Cape Breton Partenership Women in Business Awards awarded Dr. Korven and Celtic Creatures Vet Clinic the “Business Start-Up of the Year” award. Dr. Korven enjoys the challenges of running her own business. Her favorite thing about her job is being a medical detective, piecing together symptoms, diagnostic findings and figuring out a diagnosis and treatment plan. She enjoys the rewards of seeing patients improve and getting to know her clients. She is also interested in soft tissue surgery and dentistry.
In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her pets: two cats Quasi and Nazca, and two dogs Torridon and Orca.
